English Abstract:
Tools for Thinking: The Stuff (and the Shape) of Thought
An overview of Steven Pinker's cognitivist linguistics, emphasizing his conception of the nature of words and constructions as tools developed through their use in contact with reality and the filter of accumulated collective experience. This conception of semantics and of syntax is congruent with an evolutionary conception of human experience and with Pinker's critique of radical constructivism and his defense of innatism.
