'La Peste Escarlata' y la epidemiología evolutiva
En este artículo examinamos el relato de Jack London "La Peste Escarlata" desde la perspectiva de la actual epidemiología evolucionista, sosteniendo que su comprensión pesimista de la dinámica epidemiológica en poblaciones crecientes, y su visión catastrofista de la evolución, son esencialmente correctas y se hallan muy por delante de las ideas recibidas y de las nociones científicas dominantes en su época.

'The Scarlet Plague' and Evolutionary Epidemiology
The paper examines Jack London's story 'The Scarlet Plague' from the perspective of contemporary evolutionary epidemiology, arguing that its pessimistic insights about the epidemiological dynamics in growing populations, and about the catastrophic nature of evolution, are fundamentally correct, and far ahead of the received opinions and the dominant scientific notions of his own time.

En el Mapa de Investigación de Aragón
Veo que figuro en el Mapa de Investigación de Aragón—pero hace diez años de eso. Con el proyecto que no nos subvencionaron por contener "un número insuficiente de aragoneses." Veo que sin embargo, a pesar de no querer ni reconocernos el proyecto en su momento, luego nos pusieron "en el mapa". Aunque con una errata en el nombre de M. Carmen López Sáenz. En fin, ahora puedo presumir, retrospectivamente, de haber dirigido un grupo de investigación sobre "Narración, interacción e interpretación". En eso estamos aún.

Consiliencia, evolución y anclaje narrativo
La teoría de la evolución de Herbert Spencer no sólo es una teoría científica sobre los procesos naturales, sino también una teoría de la consiliencia, una Gran Historia estratégicamente ubicada como marco cognitivo de toda actividad intelectual, al proporcionar una interpretación unificada de los objetos de estudio de las ciencias y de las humanidades. Enfatizamos las dimensiones narratológicas que hacen de Primeros Principios una teoría unificada de los diversos niveles de complejidad emergente.

Herbert Spencer's theory of evolution is not merely a scientific theory on natural processes, but also a theory of consilience, a Big History strategically situated as a cognitive frame encompassing all intellectual endeavors, inasmuch as it puts forward a unified interpretation of the objects of study of the sciences and of the humanities. This paper emphasizes the narratological dimensions which make of First Principles a unified theory of the various levels of emerging complexity.
