La primera sección de este trabajo explora la analogía entre las características genéricas de la escritura ensayística y la de los blogs, en tanto que modalidades de práctica textual tentativas y procesuales. Los blogs abren una nueva era para la escritura ensayística, en un medio muy propicio para que se desarrollen algunas de las características del género. La segunda sección del artículo expone algunos parámetros que permitan representar algunas dimensiones relativas a la originalidad y la relevancia de un artículo de blog—algunas de ellas específicas del medio, otras no específicas.

The first section of this paper explores an analogy between the generic characteristics of essay-writing and those of blogging, as modes of tentative, processual textual practice. Blogs open up a new age for essay-writing, in a medium well suited to develop some characteristics of the genre. The second section of the paper puts forward some parameters to gauge a number of dimensions of originality and relevance in blog posts, some of them specific and some non-specific to the medium.

I Am Not at Rest
Yet—it seems to me I had overlooked showing to myself, or to the overhearing, overlooking, audience of this Cabinet of Curiosities, something well worth seeing—at least relatively so. It's the cover—well, the virtual covers—of a couple of electronic journals which include my paper on Carol Shields's postmodernist novel The Stone Diaries. Here they go. First, the American Literature eJournal:
Don't worry, the paper is shorter than its title. The other journal which has distributed it is Cognition & the Arts eJournal, is edited by none less than Mark Turner. And yes, you had better know who Mark Turner is, at least if you are doing literary theory, discourse analysis, semiotics or cognitive science.
What would our days be without this constant trickle of sugar-coated pills, one need not wonder. I spare you the rest.
