He gets it all (or nearly all) wrong. Hobbes is not proposing the way political order "should be". He DESCRIBES the way political order works, actually works. Leviathan is not a proposal for the improvement of society: it is an analysis of the actual workings of society and power, not a blueprint for a better society.

Comentando títulos shakespeareanos para un blog, veo que salen muchos del famoso parlamento "Signifying Nothing" de Macbeth, aquel que dice
To-morrow, and to-morrow, and to-morrow,
Creeps in this petty pace, from day to day,
To the last syllable of recorded time;
And all our yesterdays have lighted fools
The way to dusty death. Out, out brief candle!
Life's but a walking shadow; a poor player,
That struts and frets his hour upon the stage,
And then is heard no more; it is a tale
Told by an idiot, full of sound and fury,
signifying nothing.
What a load of possibilities for blog titles in that quote. Just imagine (with the right image):
- "Tomorrow, and tomorrow, and tomorrow"
- "This petty pace (from day to day)"
- "The Last Syllable of Recorded Time"
Or again:
- "All Our Yesterdays"
Or "Lighted fools" (screen, readers, etc.- not nice, that one, and I'd also drop "Tale told by an idiot")
- "The Way to Dusty Death"
- "Brief Candle"
- "Walking Shadow"
- "Strutting and Fretting"
- "Sound Fury"
- "The Signifyin' Nothing"
Take your pick!
